STATES CHRONICLE – Specialists recommend a new type of diet based on plants which may suit many people’s lifestyle. The US News & World Report developed a new list of diets which will help you stay healthy and fit. Those who are used to dieting may already know that the most popular ones are diets like Jenny Craig’s and Weight Watchers. Nevertheless, there are many other new approaches like the Eco-Atkins diet or the MIND diet which are ranked as top diets.
The annual rankings list consists of 38 diets which have been examined and evaluated by nutritionists, doctors and health professionals. Angela Haupt, who is an assistant managing editor for health at US News, argued that every profile represents another view of every diet plan. The menus listed there were separated in distinct categories from the ones which are easier to follow to those which help you lose weight very fast.
The Eco-Atkins diet is categorized among those who help you lose weight incredibly fast. The alimentation program was developed by a nutritionist at the University of Toronto. Haupt has explained that this is a diet based on plants which derive from the Atkins diet. The diet requires that 31% of the intake of daily calories should come from plant proteins, whereas 26% come from carbs and 43% should come from plant fats.
By following this diet, you can lose about 8 pounds per month. In the meantime, you also help at the improvement of your blood levels of triglycerides, blood pressure and also cholesterol levels. Haupt pointed out that this eco diet is superior to the original Atkins diet, but it may also be tough to follow. Basically, the dieter is on her or his own, because there exists little guidance.
Another plant-based diet is the Ornish one. Dr. Dean Ornish has developed the plan of this nutrition program. This fantastic diet is bound to reverse heart disease and diabetes. It is based on legumes, vegetables, whole grains, nonfat dairy, fruits, and soy products. However, the Mediterranean diet is also one of the top diets. Oldways, a nonprofit company in Boston has developed the plan of this diet, working with specialists from the Harvard School of Public Health.
