AdBlock Plus is one of the most used extensions on that is available on leading web browsers. It allows users to block unnecessary ads from showing on the web page which lets users to enjoy clutter-free internet surfing experience. However, advertisers can only generate revenue when users click on their ads. Users of AdBlock Plus will be surprised to know that not only the free version but even the premium version allow some ads to appear.

The application comes with a filter feature that allows users to show up certain ads by default. However, what is surprising is that even AdBlock also certain ads to show up. An insider has revealed that the company receives good money from advertisers to add them to white-list. The fact that they will allow certain ads to show up has already been mentioned in the FAQs page.

Recently, it has been reported by many tech sites that Adblock has allowed Google to show their ads. Some are of the view that Google must be paying hefty amount to Adblock to mark their ads in the list of ‘acceptable ads’. Hence, some of the Google ads are not blocked by the app and let them appear by default. The company has also accepted the fact that they have been receiving fee from major companies to list their ads in the white-list.

When you go to the FAQs page on AdBlock Plus’s website, you will see the following question out there. Do companies pay you for being added to the list? They have answered the question by saying that there is a free of cost whitelisting service for small blogs and websites. AdBlock claims that it is not easy to manage the white-list and lot of efforts are required to deal with it. So, AdBlock allows some big companies (Google?) that offer nonintrusive ads to show ads and lists them as Acceptable Ads.

Advertisers like Google would definitely want their ads to reach out to wider audience beyond AdBlock Plus. So, it is quite evident that advertisers are willing to pay hefty amount to display their ads to relevant audience. However, this raises question that if any advertiser manages to pay huge money, would they show up their ads too?

There is no information on how much Google might be paying AdBlock for including their ads in the acceptable ads list. If you happen to view the exception list, you would see names of popular companies like Reddit, eHow, Livestrong and Amazon to name a few. Other advertisers are making use of Google AdSense ads which is listed as acceptable ads by AdBlock. Facebook, Yahoo and Bing are not the white-list.

AdBlock Plus is a very popular extension on Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Android. If you do not wish any ads to show up while surfing on the internet, you can simply use the option to block all ads by accessing it from the settings. We hope that AdBlock continues to block spammy ads and disturbing popups and offer clutter free internet browsing experience
