Like always, the newest Android update has been exclusively made available for Google Nexus devices. The Nexus 7 2 which was launched recently came out with the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. The update will also be available on other Nexus devices like Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Let’s talk about devices other than Nexus smartphones and tablets. When are they going to receive Android 4.3 update?
The Android 4.3 is not a major update but it only brings a few performance improvements which makes the OS work even better. Some of the new features that you will get with Android 4.3 are Restricted Profile, OpenGL 3.0 for improved graphics, Bluetooth Smart, enhanced audio and autop-complete feature on dialer and many more. The update will be also available fist for HTC One Google Edition and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition. Which are the other devices apart from Nexus devices to get the new update?
In the past, HTC had announced the exact dates for Android updates but many of the updates did not happen at the promised time. Hence, HTC has stopped talking about Android updates after Android 4.1. The Taiwanese company does not seem interested in talking about Android 4.3 release dates. Many of the HTC devices are yet to get Android 4.2 update till now. What we feel is that the HTC One will get the update soon but the other HTC devices will have to wait longer to get the update.
Recently, Sony had given out a statement that very soon they will start offering Android 4.3 updates. However, the company has not disclosed which devices are going to get the updates. Currently, only Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL are running on Android 4.2 and these are the devices that are likely to get the Android 4.3 update. Still, other devices are running on Android 4.1 and we think that these may not be the ones in priority to get the Android 4.3 update.
LG has not made any announcement on updating its devices with Android 4.3 after the update was made official. The LG Optimus G and Optimus G Pro are the two of the devices that should possibly get the update. However, the company does not seem to be much active in releasing the updates for these phones. The Optimus G has been updated with Android 4.1 very recently in US. So, in order to make the Android 4.3 update available, LG will have to skip the Android 4.2 update. The LG G2 is going to release with Android 4.2.2 very soon. Let’s hope that at least that this device gets the update soon after its release.
Like others, even Samsung is refraining from announcing specific dates on arrival of Android 4.3 for its devices. We feel that the update will be rolled out faster for Samsung devices. Samsung has only said that in the coming months, the update will be available for some of its Galaxy devices. Recently, it was in the news that the Android 4.2 update was cancelled for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 as manufacturers are interested in offering Android 4.3 update. It is quite evident that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will surely receive the update. The Galaxy S3 may as well get the Android 4.3 update.
Motorola which is now owned by Google is trying to come back into competition. Recently, it was announced that Verizon will be revealing three new Motorola phones namely Droid Mini, Droid Maxx and Droid Ultra. These new forthcoming Droid phones are going to come out with Android 4.2. So in spite of being a part of Google’s camp, the search engine giant has not shown any favoritism to Motorola. Two of the better phones from Motorola that were released last year, namely Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR MAXX HD are yet to get Android 4.2 update.
Many of the smartphones across various brands are yet to receive the Android 4.2 update. We feel that such devices will directly get the Android 4.3. In the near future, we hope the newly phones come with Android 4.3 out-of-the-box.
