One of the main problems facing users who might still have been holding on to the older Apple devices was their incompatibility with the latest apps that have flooded the Apple App Store. It was like users with a device which ran on iOS 5 were unable to download the applications whose minimum requirement has been the iOS 6. Users of the older device were therefore left stranded completely.
Apple has changed that policy so that users of older devices would now be able to download the application without any fuss. So if the user running iOS 5 finds an application useful and wants to download, the link would take the user to the correct version of the app. That is the one which would run on iOS 5 version of the OS. The current version of the app would be applicable for iOS 6 and later only in all probability. Users with older devices of Apple and which could not be upgraded also so far as the OS is concerned can now breathe easy.
The problem of users with unsupported OS version occurs as the makers of the device keep updating their operating systems though users in many cases do not do so. The frequency at which the makers like Apple change their OS version makes it difficult for the users to keep their gadgets updated. This leads to something known as fragmentation. While Android devices suffer much greater fragmentation, that the same also applies to Apple has become evident with this move of Apple to support older version with apps of compatible version.
Though the news is relief for the older version users, there is yet the issue of their application not having all the features which the new application would have. Application that aids the user in day to day functions would be those that most affect the user.
