Apple Releases Je Suis Charlie App
This Sunday’s march in Paris gathered numerous leaders, ministers, entertainment people as well as renowned corporations such as Apple. In order to show their solidarity, Apple released Je Suis Charlie app.

Since all major public figures united to protest against terrorism, developers immediately created a new application entitled “Je suis Charlie. They decided that every participant at the Parisian demonstration should have the application.

When did the developers have time for such a solidarity act? Well, they didn’t. Nice Matin emailed Tim Cook, the Apple’s CEO and asked for permission. There is period of ten days for an application submission to be approved of the review team. He received a reply within the next 10 minutes agreeing a quick review and even to launch the application in an hour. All said and done.

What does the application do? “Je Suis Charlie” app introduces the geographical data of the user’s location. In this ways, users confirm their support against terrorism. Also, the application is pleading for freedom of expression.

What is “I’m Charlie”? The massacre at the French newspaper “Charlie Hebdo” led to 17 deaths of journalists and policemen. Last Sunday, a march of solidarity and unity was taken in Paris where all nations shouted that “I’m Charlie”. Since then, these words have become a powerful symbol.  It is a symbol of expression, of freedom.

The application was a complete success. Because so many people downloaded this app, France’s borderlines cannot be seen. There are literally thousands of people supporting this cause and coloring the margins of France.

As it may seem obvious, CEO Tim Cook enjoyed the benefits of an early release of his company’s application. The app is now at the top. It has a simple, yet meaningful name. The supporters are named Charlie. The application shows how many Charlies there are on a selected location. This campaign will show the united people, even nations which stand together as a solidarity response.

Besides this demonstration of support, Apple’s official website added a section footer named “Je Suis Charlie” on its French version. People all over the world have shown their alliance against the terrorist attack. Now they can download the application to further show it. Unity, support and teamwork towards Charlie Hebdo are one of the words which can express Apple’s recent actions.
