Samsung released its Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Apple released the two new iPhones and now BlackBerry has gone ahead and silently announced the arrival of their next meaty smartphone. The BlackBerry Z30 has been unveiled at an event held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. BlackBerry advertises the new Z30 as the most capable handset ever manufactured by them.
It has been heard that BlackBerry is considering an outright sale of the company mainly because of the lackluster sales of the new devices that were launched this year. The BlackBerry Z30 replaces the BlackBerry Z10 which was released at the beginning of this year.
The BlackBerry Z30 comes with a Super AMOLED 5inch display screen which makes it possible to compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S, iPhone 5S, HTC One, and so on. Well, the Z30 has plenty of competitors in the market. By the way, this is the first time BlackBerry is making use of a Super AMOLED display technology.
An interesting feature of BlackBerry Z30 is that comes with stereo speakers which have been dubbed as Natural Sound. This reminds us of BoomSound speakers from HTC One. Since BlackBerry has always been making business class phone, the company claims that the speakers are not just good for listening to music but also for video conferencing.
BlackBerry Z30 gets its horsepower from a 1.7GHz CPU coupled with quad-core graphics. As of now, BlackBerry has not given out many details on the processor and graphics. The BlackBerry Z10 featured a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor.
BlackBerry Z30 runs on an updated version of BB10. It has got BB 10.2 OS and comes with enhanced message handling features. It comes with a feature called Priority Hub which appears to be similar to the BlackBerry Hub feature available on BlackBerry Z10 and Q10.
The new Hub shows all the messages like email, social media, texts and so on together. The Hub is able to understand with whom you chat the most and places the high priority communications at the top. As far as typing a message is concerned, the BlackBerry Z30 comes with a much improved virtual keyboard as compared to the one available on the BlackBerry Z10.
Here comes the most powerful feature of the BlackBerry Z30. Well, BlackBerry devices have not shown battery life issues. Still, the manufacturers have packed in a massive 2880mAh battery. The battery on BlackBerry Q10 was 2100mAh and the one on BlackBerry Z10 was 1880mAh. BlackBerry also claims that you can squeeze out a battery life of 25 hours even if watch videos, talk on the phone, listen to the music and browse on the web.
As of now, BlackBerry has not announced any details on the pricing of the device. Speculations have it that the device will hit the UK and Middle East markets by the coming week. By holiday season, the phone will also arrive at other regions.
