STATES CHRONICLE – Entertainment media is all about one thing – entertainment. As long as something, be it a movie, a TV show, or a video game becomes boring, or simply not entertaining, it automatically fails at what it set out to do. But the opposite is also true. If a production manages to entertain you, it means that it did its job as a means of entertainment better than many others that came before it.
But these forms of entertainment media are very much interchangeable and modifiable. If you edit a video from a movie, a TV show or a video game, or even if you abridge a book and it still is entertaining, it means that your final product succeeded at what it was meant to do, regardless of whether the original also succeeded at it or not.
Going a bit more towards today’s topic, do you remember those old ‘choose your own adventure books’? And do you often feel like you want to take control of your favorite characters and guide them to what you think would be best for them? If the answer to the second question is ‘yes’, then you’re in for a treat, as you can now play a Fallout: New Vegas choose your own adventure game on YouTube.
But how would that even work, and why would anyone do that, you might wonder. Well, the answer is pretty simple for both questions. For the second question, you could very well do that if your PC can’t run the game or if you simply want to replay the game in a different manner than the first time you played it. Regardless of your reasons, if you’re being entertained it means that the game achieved its goal.
As for the first question, well it’s all thanks to the Many A True Nerd YouTube channel. The people behind the channel played through the game in a number of ways, and recorded it in small, digestible chunks of video. Then, as someone narrates what is going on and is showing you the game, you have to choose what you’re going to do next.
The choices are dependent on annotations, so make sure you turn them on if you want to enjoy the game. Of course, seeing as the game itself offers you huge amounts of possibilities on how to progress, the YouTube version is far more limited. However, that doesn’t stop from having fun watching the YouTuber play through the game exactly how you tell him to.
You can play through what is considered to be the best of the new Fallout games by using the YouTube video below, and we hope you’re going to enjoy it as much as we did. And remember, your choices absolutely do matter in how the story develops, so you’re in for a very fun and bumpy ride.
