Washington: Former US president George Bush, who was discharged on Wednesday following a surgery for blocked artery, is recovering well at his home in Dallas.
George Bush is “doing great”, said wife Laura Bush.
Bush is expected to resume his normal schedule on Thursday, sources said.
The blockage was discovered on Monday during Bush’s annual physical check-up at the Cooper Clinic in Dallas. Bush was not experiencing any trouble from the blockage, which was detected because his physical included a stress test and electrocardiogram, according to an aide.
67-year-old Bush follows rigorous fitness regime. He exercised regularly while he was in the White House from 2001 to 2009.
He was a dedicated runner until knee pain led him to take up cycling. Since leaving office, he rode a mountain bike, golfs and works out almost daily in a home gymnasium, close sources said.
Bush is the 43rd president of the United States of America.
Recently, Bush’s father, former President George H.W. Bush, had also undergone surgery for bronchitis and related ailments.
