If it was necessary to emphasize on this, we will: when it comes to Google moving the whole world forward, technologically and business – wise, they do a pretty well job and they don’t miss any opportunity to show once again that if the search engine giant doesn’t rule the world yet, it surely will in the future. Very fresh news tell us that Google adapted Android for wearable gadgets, namely smart watches, and they are gathering an impressive bunch of partners to join the venture.
Are Google and Samsung breaking apart as rumored or are they strengthening their relationship?
Samsung, who still needs to prove the Galaxy Gear is a worthy competitor, joined Google’s project, even if, on the side, Samsung is promoting its own smartwatch powered by a completely different (and even competing to Android and Apple) operating system, the Tizen, a switch from Google’s Android for a better shaped Gear line. But Samsung and Google are still friends and business partners and this is no little thing, considering that the announcement regarding that Google adapted android for wearable gadgets also come with a brand new Motorola smartwatch, even if Motorola is no longer owned by Google, which, in the eyes of specialists, is a strike of genius.
So what’s in stake in the smartwatch market?
If we take a closer look, it is obvious that Google aims to win the market in wearable gadgets, as Samsung’s Gear is still considered disappointing (although they are aiming big with the Tizen SDK for developing the Gear applications), while the other player in the arena, Apple, has to come up with even more innovative wearable and fashionable gadgets, as it seems that being associated with Yves Saint Laurent and Burberry is smart, but soon not enough, as Google brought in Fossil Group among other big fashion brands to provide the Android fans with state of the art Android powered watches. So far, Apple keeps quiet on whatever smartwatches projects they might have, while Google considers the hypothesis of providing the world with Android Wear watches sometimes this year. It is a fierce competition and with Google looking forward into the future, we might not be surprised if they would indeed change forever the tech world as we know it.
