Google Glass is undoubtedly one of the most unique gadgets available. Google Glass has manifold features and it so versatile that it can even replace your smartphone. However, whenever an entirely new kind of gadget is introduced in the market, the response of the audience is not always positive. The same goes with Google Glass. It seems to be very innovative but there are some hurdles that can come in its way that can stop it from becoming mainstream product.
Google is continuously encouraging developers to build apps exclusively for Google Glass. Hence, many exclusive apps such as Evernote, Twitter, Facebook, CNN and many more have already been developed. There are several obstacles Google Glass needs to overcome and then it can build a sizeable and loyal customer base.
Privacy Concerns
Google Glass is a wearable eyewear and it comes with a camera installed on it. Many analysts have stated that usage of this gadget in public leads to intrusion of privacy. Some have stated people using Google Glass will be able to find out various details about strangers through facial recognition.
Style Quotient
Google Glass is a lightweight eyewear. Still it appears clunky and geeky. If users find it uncomfortable or feels embarrassed to wear it, they won’t be interested in using even if it is fully loaded with cool features. Google is currently working in tandem with Warby Parker in designing new frames to suit all kinds of faces.
Breakable
Google Glass appears to be fragile. Even though Google may try to use strongest frames, what will happen to the digital eyewear when it is dropped accidently? Google Glass is an expensive gadget and buyers will definitely not want to invest in something that can break easily.
Difficult to Use
When you purchase a new device, you would want to start using it right away. The interface of Google Glass does not appear to be user-friendly. It requires you to spend some time in understanding how it works. In fact, Google is training people new Glass users. For people who find it difficult to use, Google should have an option that can train them easily whenever they want. For this, Google may have to open a physical store to address usability issues.
Distracting
When you are writing a text on Google Glass, the text appears in front of you. It directly places it on your line of sight. This may cause you to lose your concentration on what’s around you and stay focused on your data. So, if you are creating a text message or making a phone call, you can get distracted while driving.
Battery Issue
Early reports have shown that Google Glass is already showing signs of poor battery life. If the battery is unable to last the entire day or it runs out in three to five hours, does it require you to charge it by connecting it to wall socket or is Google providing some sort of battery pack to resolve the battery life issue.
