STATES CHRONICLE- Older people have a higher risk of developing hearing problems. Despite the fact that it is uncommon, young adults can also suffer from hearing loss. The biggest issues here is that, in the US, hearing loss is going to double in almost 40 years.
The number of American people over 20 years old that suffer from hearing loss is going to increase to 45 million in the next 3 year. In 2020 more than 55% of elder people will suffer from hearing loss. It is predicted that by 2060, more than 67% will have hearing problems.
A new report focused on this topic mentioned that the numbers are concerning. The researchers observed that people who are getting older are going to lose their hearing if they don’t pay more attention to their health. Despite the fact that people don’t see it as a necessity, hearing health care is important.
The experts that conducted this report showed that, as the numbers are getting bigger, there is an increasing need of affordable hearing health care. They mentioned that people are not very concerned about this problem and they sometimes don’t even take into consideration the risk of losing their hearing.
Although people don’t see it as a threat, losing your hearing can damage a lot of aspects of your life. People who suffer from hearing loss have a hard time working and engaging in family and social activities. Also, people should consider the costs needed in order to partly regain their hearing.
The researchers that conducted this study added that hearing loss can damage the mental abilities of a person. This is why people should be more careful with their health. Although it might seem like all people lose their hearing when they get older, it is not true.
The factor that influences the loss of hearing is loud noise. Researchers observed that prolonged exposure to loud music or noise is the most common cause of loss of hearing. In order to take better care of their hearing, people should limit their exposure to loud noises. The researchers added that it is never too early to protect your hearing.
What is your opinion about this study? Do you think that the hearing loss is going to double in the US?
