Heart disease is a common problem for women than cancer. Although people believe that men are more likely to develop heart problems, the numbers show that women are the ones that are more affected by this problem.
Numbers show that the number one killer is heart disease when it comes to women. It is also known that 33% of women live with heart disease. The biggest problem is that most of these women don’t even know that they have a heart disease.
A lot of women who die from heart diseases don’t experience symptoms and that is why they don’t realize they have a problem. Sometimes women die suddenly without even being diagnosed with heart disease.
In the past, researchers focused more on men when they studied heart problem. This is why they believed that men are more likely to develop a heart condition than women. Another interesting thing is that men and women experience different symptoms.
One of the symptoms that are felt by almost every person who has a heart condition is chest pain which radiated on the left arm. When it comes to women they usually have “silent” symptoms. Most women mentioned that they believed those symptoms were caused by other minor issues.
Another interesting fact is that women tend to dismiss heart disease symptoms more than men. This can keep them from looking for medical help. The longer they stay without checking the problem the harder it is to treat it.
Some of the symptoms that are usually felt by women who have heart disease include stomach pain, nausea, sweating, chest pain, fatigue, and pain is neck or jaw. All of these symptoms are usually ignored because people don’t associate them with heart conditions.
The factors that can increase the risk for heart conditions include diabetes, smoking, high cholesterol, and obesity. These factors affect both men and women but they are more dangerous for women. Also, women after menopause have a higher risk of developing heart problems.
Doctors advise women to maintain a healthy diet and to exercise regularly. Of course, women need to quit smoking in order to lower their chances of developing a heart problem.
What is your opinion about these findings? Did you know that women are more likely to dies from heart disease than men?
