While some sources were betting on the iPad Mini 2 making an appearance at the WWDC 2013 event or more likely during fall 2013, all of that now seems least probable. The sources who supply parts to make up the iPad Mini had told about the possibility of the iPad Mini 2 being completed before the WWDC 2013 indicating a delay in the release date of iPad Mini 2. Now they say it is not even expected to be completed next quarter.
It would rather be the iPad 5 that Apple would launch this year and the iPad Mini 2 is rumored to see the light of day only next year first quarter. There could be several reasons for this rescheduling when Apple makes their smaller tablet available to the people. The most plausible could be Apple wanting to make sure their bigger sized iPad do not lose their market due to the presence of the more portable iPad Mini 2. That the latter is more to the consumer’s preference is quite evident from the market survey reports conducted by various companies during various times.
The reason for the smaller iPad emerging more popular is its lower price for one. The iPad Mini 2 is also more portable and handy and the iPad Mini having a Retina display this time would sure have cascading effect on the iPad 5.
There are other gadgets in the market from other makers like the Kindle Fire and Google Nexus which carry a lower price. To remain alive in this market Apple is having plans to come out with their iPad Mini 2 with a price tag of $250. The lower price coupled with the ease of use of the device would no doubt have dealt a severe blow to the iPad 5, which perhaps make it a wise move on part of Apple to first offer the iPad 5 followed by the iPad Mini 2 a few months later. However, all of these are rumors at best and we await an official confirmation on this in the coming days.
