Finally, the Apple iPhone 5S has been announced. The iPhone 5S is one of the two iPhones that was unveiled by Apple on Sept 10. The iPhone 5C is the other iPhone that was unveiled on that day. The iPhone 5C is going to slot itself as a mid-range phone whereas the iPhone 5S is a premium handset with an expensive price tag.

The iPhone 5S will be available in premium colors like gold, silver and grey whereas the iPhone 5C will be available in colors like blue, green, yellow, red, and white. The iPhone 5S packs in a new CPU, long lasting battery, and enhanced camera.

Both iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C have the same sized display screen i.e. 4inch Retina Display. Also, both the handsets are running on the latest version operating system, iOS 7. The Apple iPhone 5S is a good competitor to the likes of popular Android smartphones like Galaxy S4, HTC One, Xperia Z.

Apple says that the new iPhone 5S comes with higher resolution. However, we feel that without increasing the screen size, they cannot offer more resolution than what is provided with iPhone 5. Apple has dubbed the iPhone 5S as Retina Class device which means you won’t be able to view individual pixels if you view the device from a normal distance. The iPhone 5S offers a screen resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels in a 4inch Retina Display screen.

The iPhone 5S is powered with the all new iOS7 which is yet to be unveiled. Some of the features of the iOS 7 include new Control Center, Notification Center, better multitasking, AirDrop, revamped Photos app, iTunes Radio and improved Siri with support for male and female voices

The Apple iPhone 5S is powered with A7 chipset. The A7 is the very first 64bit smartphone CPU in the world. According to Apple, A7 chipset’s performance is twice better than the older A6 CPU. As compared to the original iPhone’s CPU, the A7 chipset is 40 percent more powerful. The device also comes with M7 motion coprocessor.

The iPhone 5S comes with f/2.2 aperture, larger image sensor, auto image stabilization, larger pixels and increased light sensitivity. Also, the rear camera is blessed with two LEDs of which one is white and the other is amber. The camera is smart enough to examine the lighting of the surrounding and then adjusts the color of flash. It can capture videos at 10fps called the burst mode and it can also capture videos at 120 fps for slow motion videos.

The home button of the iPhone 5S houses a fingerprint sensor which I called Touch ID sensor by Apple. The idea behind adding a fingerprint sensor is to offer more secure logins to iPhone 5S users. The fingerprint sensor can also be used to authenticate purchases over iTunes Store or other outlets like Apple App Store and iBooks Store without typing in the password. Since the iPhone 5S has arrived and the iPhone 5C has also arrived with similar specs as iPhone 5, Apple has discontinued the supply of iPhone 5 to retail stores.

The iPhone 5S release date is set to September 20. Even the iPhone 5C will be released on the same date. The iPhone 5C is available at a price of $100 on contract. The iPhone 5S is available at a price of $200 on contract. Without contract, the iPhone 5C is available for $550 and the iPhone 5S is available for $650.
