The Pebble Smartwatch and the Galaxy Gear from Samsung are undoubtedly the most popular smartwatches in the world right now. Although we think they’re really cool gadgets, they don’t really look like a watch. They look more like small smartphones which you wear around your wrists, sort to speak. The new Martian Notifier Smartwatch is packed with plenty of tricks and it also looks like an actual watch.
Unlike the Galaxy Gear, which has a touchscreen that takes the entire front face of the watch, the Notifier has split the front and put the clock face on its top side and the small display underneath it. It vibrates just like a smartphone, notifying you from one side to the other on its display. You can choose the vibrating mode using an app that complements it. For checking messages you need to tap the face of the watch and it will show up on the bottom end of the face. Since it doesn’t have the same fullscreen display as the Galaxy Gear or the Pebble smartwatches, it will take a little longer to see and read the whole message at once.
If you’re not the patient kind of person, you’ll end up taking out your phone and check the message, as we do. But then again, a smartwatch is not really supposed to be a replacement for the smartphone. It’s still a watch.
Martian Notifier Smartwatch Features
The Notifier Smartwatch works both on Apple’s iOS and on Android OS. That’s one of its best features in our opinion. The clock side of the watch works with a normal watch battery that will last you for about 2 years. The cool thing about it is that the clock works even if the “smart” part of it isn’t. You can charge it with an USB cable.
You can get the Martian Notifier Smartwatch for about $130 starting this spring.
