STATES CHRONICLE – The spaceship S.S. Alan Poindexter had accomplished its mission on November 27. The rover had arrived at the International Space Station where it will stay for a month. This mission was meant to mark the return to flight operations of the Orbital ATK at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Wallops Island, Virginia.
This mission was initiated on October 17 when a fire was provided by RD-181 rocket engines. This rover needed to achieve a significant test bound to determine the manifestations of flame propagation in cosmos. Frank Culbertson, the President of the Orbital ATK’s Space Systems Group, has asserted that the immense success of the OA-5 mission thrilled everybody with the discoveries attained.
The Antares 230 spaceship has already undergone more attributions than it should have, sprinting off the pad above Wallops Island. Antares was fueled by the RD-181 rocket engines. It returned to analyzing and delivering the shipment to the International Space Station while sending the merchant ship Cygnus cargo into space.
The Cygnus cargo ship was the first one of its kind which managed to fly above the Antares 230 craft. Also, this rocket was the first to properly use the Castor 30XL propellant stage meant to help develop second-stage operations. Culbertson has asserted that his team got back to flight operations coordinated at the home base in Virginia. They had also managed to launch the improved Antares 230 craft.
What is more, the team demonstrated that Cygnus could be used as a platform to develop scientific tests and operations. The spacecraft set off from the Unity module on November 21. To launch the spaceship, astronaut Shane Kimbrough used Canadarm 2. Before departing for Expedition 50, the crew equipped the ship with approximately 1,120 kilograms of items useful for disposal.
Kimbrough has stated that ISS obtained about 5,000 pounds of payloads, supplies, and equipment to have all the necessary facilities to depart into space. After Cygnus had successfully withdrawn from the space station, it started the experiment Saffire-II, deploying four Cube Satellites bound to be very useful for meteorological research.
Mission OA-5 celebrated the first occasion when a cargo spaceship was able to deliver satellites above the orbit of the International Space Station. The spaceship Fire Experiment-II or Saffire-II is the second one which set off to develop a series of tests to analyze the behavior of fires in microgravity.
