Moto X and its New Always-On Features

Every now and then we are able to hear new rumors on the anticipated Moto X flagship device. The Moto X phone is expected to release in August and if you go by the rumors, the phone is expected to launch on 23rd of August. The phone is going to feature some exciting and new customization features. Google acquired Motorola is all set to come back into competition with the mysterious Moto X phone.

The Moto X is going to be released with plenty of new features. However, here we are not going to talk on that but rather let you on more about the always-on features of the device.

Moto-X

Unlike other smartphones, it would be much easier to activate your Moto X phone with the always-on voice feature. Instead of turning on the phone and unlocking the device and then accessing the Google Now app, the always-on feature will allow you to simply say a phrase (a voice command) to automatically start Google’s voice search and use Google Now.

The always-on voice feature will be very helpful for users who will be using their phone while driving their car. Apple has already started working on Siri Eyes Free in the forthcoming iOS 7 that will prevent drivers from getting distracted. You will need to mount the Moto X in your car and the always-on voice app can be easily interacted to dial a phonebook contact or start an app.

With the new Moto X, Motorola is going to make LED notifications passé. According to Motorola, glowing LED lights for notifications is not enough to let users know about the missed alerts. With the new dynamic notifications on Moto X, even when the display off, Moto X will show up blinking icons. For example, if you receive a Facebook notification, the display show a blinking  Facebook icon.

The new dynamic notification on Moto X indicates that the anticipated smartphone will sport an AMOLED display which can support 720p or 1080p HD display. Also, if it uses AMOLED display, it will have good battery life as it show blinking icon on black screen. However, if it sports an LCD display, the notification would eat up lot of battery as LCD requires blacklighting.

Another cool feature on the Moto X is the double-twist gesture for launching the camera app. We are not sure whether the gesture can be used to launch the camera even a third-party app is being used. This is yet another always-on feature which will allow users to launch the camera even when the display is turned by doing the double-twist gesture.

With this always-on camera feature, you will not have to go through the usual process of unlocking the display and navigate to the camera app to launch it. You would also rely less on the dedicated camera button to launch the camera.

Also, Moto X will also come with enhanced camera performance. Previously, Motorola smartphones did not have good camera but now the company seems to be focusing on delivering a better camera on the new Moto X. Since they are offering new double-twist gesture for the camera, we hope it also comes with a powerful camera. We can expect features like good quality low-light photography without using a flash, image stabilization and shake free video recording.
