The Moto X was supposed to get the optional wooden back panel for attaching to the original device. It gives a jazzy look though it comes for a price. The add-on has finally arrived in the market and it is the first item which gives a natural and bamboo finish to any Smartphone in the market today. To carry on in the natural back cover series, there would also be the rosewood, team and ebony back covers also coming up sometime later though it’s not known when.
The customized device would reach the customer in seven days’ time and would cost an additional $100. This means the customized Moto X with the bamboo back cover would cost the user $199.99 while the normal variant with a 2 year contract comes for $99.99.
Motorola has uploaded a small animation which depicts the Moto X with its wooden back and that too in 3D. The user can turn the object in any direction to get a better appreciation of the style and looks of the device with different back covers added. Interested customers however must note that to get the real experience of this animated rendering, the graphics card being used in the system used for the viewing must be a high end one.
The wooden panel option comes not just in one color but there are several attractive shades to choose from. There is also the type of finish to the product that can be selected, with options ranging from the Woven finish to the standard finish type.
By number, the options available to the users to order from are 20. This includes the combination of 7 accent colors that can be selected. By permutation and combination the choice goes up to 280 different combinations to order the Moto X from.
