The learning thermostat created by Nest was designed as a smart system for controlling the temperature in the house. The Nest smart thermostat could help reduce the energy bills with up 29%, depending on the climate and the size of the house.
The device has two parts: a thermostat that has a digital display and a heat link. The heat link must be professionally installed and it controls the boiler. The thermostat is hooked to the heat link and it communicates with it wirelessly or through a wire. You need a power source that runs through a USB power adapter. The Nest app allows you to view the energy history or schedule the heating time.. You can control the Nest smart thermostat using your smartphone.
The thermostat will send you monthly emails that tell you exactly how much energy you have used and it also compares the results with the previous months so you can see where to make some changes and save money.
Nest smart thermostat shifts into auto mode when you are away so you won’t use any extra energy. It has an automatic heating program that is based on how people use it: for example, if you turn the heat up and down at a certain time of day, the thermostat memorizes it and will do it automatically.
The Nest smart thermostat also communicates with the Nest Protect carbon monoxide alarm which means that it shuts down if there are high levels of CO.
Nest Smart thermostat is owned by Google
Nest is a US company that was bought by Google in January for $3,2 billion. The smart thermostat is available in the US, Canada and UK.
