T-Mobile will not make it possible for you to get a new smartphone every few months and that at a very affordable price. T-Mobile will be launching a new ‘Jump’ plan which will allow subscribers to upgrade to new smartphone by trading your existing phone from T-Mobile.

Customers of the new ‘Jump’ plan will be allowed to upgrade two times in a period of twelve months. According to John Legere who is the CEO of T-Mobile, cellular service providers lock customers into two-year agreement and it is only after the agreement comes to an end customer can consider buying a better phone. T-Mobile’s Jump plan allows you get any phone you wish to buy and that too at a very affordable cost.

What does Jump mean? It means Just Upgrade My phone and it requires you to pay $10 every month. The amount also includes the insurance cost of your previous phone. So, if you come to T-Mobile with damaged phone or a dead phone, you will have to pay the prevailing deductible for that device. If your old phone has no issues and you simply wish to replace it with a better phone, you don’t have to pay any remaining payments.

T-Mobile’s Jump will come into effect from the coming Sunday. Recently AT&T and Verizon were in the news for extending the amount of time that customers have to wait before they consider getting a better phone at discounted rates. However, what T-Mobile is going offer has not been offered by any carrier till now.

If you are going to buy a new Samsung Galaxy S4 through the T-Mobile plan, you will have to pay the down payment of $100 and then get into agreement and pay $20 every month for 24 months. And since you are buying the phone through the Jump plan, you will have to spend additional $10 more i.e. $30 every month. And after six months from now, you can get a new phone.

The Jump plan is the second big news from the T-Mobile this year. Earlier this year, T-Mobile had put an end to offering phones at reduced prices when subscribers signed up for a new agreement. As an alternative, subscribers were to pay the entire cost of the phone in the form of monthly fee and they were also provided with cheap call and data services.

John Legere who is very excited about Jump said, “We’re going to remake a stupid, broken and arrogant industry.” If you want to replace your phone with a better one, you should make sure the phone is in good working condition and there is no water damage or damage done to the display and the device should turn on. If T-Mobile feels that the phone is not in proper working condition, the customer will have to cough up a fee for the damaged or dead phone before getting an upgraded phone.

T-Mobile is the fourth largest cellular network service provider in US. Its LTE network covers half of US. Even existing T-Mobile customers can join the Jump plan if they are on installment plan. If you are going to opt for the Jump plan, do let us know what your opinion on it.
