What if we told you that one of the greatest inventions has just been updated with what could be the greatest invention since the diesel engine? Nissan self-cleaning car has just been announced and it looks awesome. You can forget about the annoying task of washing your car manually or taking it to the car wash. The new Nissan car can clean itself instantly thanks to a special kind of paint.
The super innovative paint is called Ultra-Ever Dry and it’s supposed to be oleophobic and hydrophobic. The new paint was patented and developed by UltraTech International and Nissan has tested it on one of their Nissan Note supermini. The super-resistant paint protects the car against: water, oils, dust, dirt, grit and mud. Although this kind of special paint has been previously used in other fields, Nissan says that they are the first to apply it on a car’s bodywork.
Nissan Self-Cleaning Car Revealed – how is it possible?
So how does Nissan self-cleaning car clean itself? Apparently the special paint uses nanotechnology that creates a thin air shield just above the surface of the car. This makes road spray, rain, frost or sleet roll off the car without affecting the surface. Sounds like magic, we know. We’re predicting a revolution in the way we’re taking care of our automobiles.
Nissan explains: “By creating a protective layer of air between the paint and environment, it effectively stops standing water and road spray from creating dirty marks on the car’s surface.”
Nissan self-cleaning car was shown in a video where the car has been painted on one side with normal paint and on the other half with the Ultra-Ever Dry paint. You can see from the video how the normal half gets dirty and wet while the special half remains clean, any marks disappearing instantly from the surface of the car.
Geraldine Ingham, Nissan’s chief marketing manager further explains: “The Nissan Note has been carefully engineered to take the stress out of customer driving, and Nissan’s engineers are constantly thinking of new ways to make families’ lives easier. We are committed to addressing everyday problems our customers face and will always consider testing exciting, cutting edge technology like this incredible coating application.”
Nissan has said that they have no plans of using the special paint on factory models but they consider making it an aftermarket option. Nissan also promised to keep testing the new Ultra-Ever Dry paint in the European testing centers.
What do you think about the Nissan self-cleaning car? Is this the beginning of something great or what?
