Nod Gesture Control RingJust when you thought that you’ve seen it all when it comes to technology, a new gadget appears that makes you reconsider it. Meet Nod, the gesture control ring that allows you to communicate with devices without needing to touch them. Physically, the Nod gesture control ring is a plain black ring which you can wear every day. It’s also waterproof so there’s no need to take it off when you wash your hands. It’s made of matte black plastic and has a stainless steel insert and you can wear it on any finger but it’s usually worn on the ring finger because it makes it easier to access the back of the ring with the thumb.

The back of the Nod gesture control ring doesn’t look like a ring at all. It has a touch panel and two buttons which give you can use for the physical options in addition to its gesture based controls.

So how does the Nod gesture control ring work? It connects to a Bluetooth 4.0 LE and it allows you to move the cursor on the screen just by moving the hand. It supports standard hand motion as well as specific gestures like rotation and swiping. The creators of the Nod ring say that it can be used to play a lot of games as well. You can use the touch panel on the inside of the ring to scroll up and down on an internet page and also as mouse buttons. The cool thing about this ring is that you can program the controls. The Nod gesture control ring is compatible with devices that use Bluetooth 4.0 technology. You can use it with Android and iOS apps as well. It also features a fully open API for adding other functionalities and device support.

The Nod gesture control ring allows you to control a lot of devices like phones, computers, tablets, TVs, home appliances and many more. So of the devices that are compatible with the Nod ring are GoPro, Philips Hue, Nest, WeMo, Roku and LG TVs, as long as they were released since 2012. The Nod gesture control ring has partnerships with Boxfish, Broadcom and Metaio.
