Nokia has come up with a new update for its Lumia range of smartphones running Windows 8 which has more to do with improving the smartphone’s photographic abilities than anything else. The new software update is targeted at users of the Windows phone 8 and will be compatible with all the flagship devices from the company. This includes the Lumia 928 for Verizon, AT&T’s Lumia 920 as well as the mid-range Lumia 820. Nokia’s Spanish tweeter account made the revelation while announcing the update will arrive at the above mentioned devices in August. However, the update is already live on the Lumia 925.
The Amber update, as it is being referred to is more oriented towards enhancing the photographic abilities of the Lumia range of smartphone running Windows 8. The key aspect of the new update will be the company’s own Smart Camera app that aims to introduce some cool effects to the images shot with the smartphone. This assumes importance given the lack of Instagram in the Windows Phone app store. Nokia chose to add almost a similar set of functionality with the new Amber update which will allow for adding some nice effects to make the images even more appealing. Instagram and Vine meanwhile are among the most sought after camera based app that users look forward to on their devices.
Meanwhile, Instagram CEO as well as the company co-founder Kevin Systrom has stated they are keen to have themselves available on the Windows and Blackberry platform before settling down with the Google Glass app ecosystem. Both Windows and Blackberry are among the most promising mobile devices platform right now.
