Initially, when the HTC One was launched, it got into a heated competition with the Galaxy S4 after its release to see which one will capture a bigger part of the smartphone market. However, the Galaxy S4 easily outclassed the HTC One’s market share. The HTC One had released before the Galaxy S4 came into the market but because of the poor marketing strategy of HTC One, the Taiwanese manufacturer completely lost out on competiting with the Galaxy S4.

Now, it is pretty much in the news that Samsung will unveil their new phablet phone, the Galaxy Note 3 in September.

Galaxy Note 3 release date is almost here, September 4. All the previous editions of Galaxy Note had become immensely popular. So, Samsung fans already feel that the Note 3 will soon grab the number one spot. For HTC One, it is yet another competitive phone to enter the market.

The Taiwanese giant is going to announce the arrival of their phablet phone, the HTC One Max. However, there is no official info on HTC One Max except that the phablet will come out in the fourth quarter of the year. Some experts are even of the view that HTC might time the release of HTC One Max alongside Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Until, the HTC One Max arrives, the HTC One which has been in US since April will defend the Galaxy Note 3’s attack. In April, the HTC One was released on AT&T’s network, followed by T-Mobile and Sprint. However, the HTC One has recently arrived on Verizon Wireless’s network in this month. Rumors has it that as soon as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be announced at the Samsung Unpacked 2013 event, the handset will be readily made available for sale in US.

Design – Metallic Design vs Plastic Body
If you look at the design of both the handsets, that both the manufactures have used different materials for building the exterior of the phone. The HTC One sports a metal body whereas the makers of Samsung of using plastic for building the exterior of Note.

Even though the metallic design gives the HTC One a sophisticated appeal, the device does neither come with microSD memory card slot nor the battery is removable. With Samsung, you don’t face such problems but the plastic design does make it appear cheaper. Since the Note 3 is a phablet device, it will be larger in size and probably weigh more than 143g of HTC One.

Display – Huge Display vs Large Display
Samsung has been increasing the size of the display on its Note line of devices with every release. The Galaxy Note 3 will house a 5.7 or 5.8inch display with support for 1080p. On the other hand, the comparatively smaller display of HTC One sports a display of 4.7inches that also supports 1080p.

Camera – High Megapixel vs UltraPixel
The camera of the Galaxy Note is predicted to sport an 13MP lens. Moreover, experts feel that the new camera lens on the Note 3 will surely support high resolution photos and videos in low-lighting conditions. It is also rumored to come with Optical Image Stablization feature. On the other hand, the HTC One has an UltraPixel technology powerd 4MP camera. Even though the count of MP is low, it is still one of the best camera smartphones out there. It also supports OIS.

HTC One

OS – Android + TouchWiz UI vs Android + HTC Sense UI
The HTC One is rumored to receive the Android 4.3 udpate soon. The Taiwanese manufacturer is also running the latest HTC Sense 5 UI on it which gives the handset its distinct appeal. It comes with two popular exclusive features, HTC BlinkFeed and HTC Zoe. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will come with Android 4.3 out of the box and it will also support the latest version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.

The Galaxy Note 3 will also come with an S-pen, which means the addition of extra software. It will have a multitasking feature which will make it ideal for business applications. They have exemplified how you can make use of Android without filling the phone with a lot of software. The HTC One lacks a stylus. Most of the touch-sensitive devices do not come with stylus. If you want one, you will have to buy it separately.

Carriers and Pricing
Except on U.S Cellular, the HTC One is available on the four major carriers in US. US tech pundits know it pretty it well how long it took HTC One to arrive on Verizon’s network. As soon as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 debuts, it will be made available on all the popular carriers including the U.S. Cellular. Till now, Samsung has not released their phablet devices on smaller carriers. However, some experts are of the view that may be this year Samsung will consider making the Note 3 available on smaller carriers.

Again, nothing has been revealed about the price of the Galaxy Note 3. However, since it is going to arrive on major carriers, like always we feel it will be available for usual price tag of 299USD. Instead of 16GB storage variant, Samsung may start offering 32GB storage variant as the base model from this year. The HTC One’s 64GB edition is available on AT&T’s network for 299USD. This makes the HTC One much more affordable than Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy Note 3.

In the recent past, some retailers like Amazon have started reducing the price of HTC One. When the Galaxy Note 3 arrives, we don’t feel that the Korean tech giant will consider offering discounts so soon. Moreover, when the Galaxy Note 3 arrives chances are there that the HTC One’s may reduce even more
