The Germany based tech show event, IFA is going to be held on September 6. During the event, many tech gadgets will be unveiled. It is rumored that the Galaxy Note 3 will be made public in this event. Not only this, Samsung is rumored to be working on a smartwatch. The name of the device is Samsung Galaxy Gear. The name of the device is also not yet confirmed. Some other rumors call the device as Samsung Galaxy Watch or Samsung Gear.

The Galaxy Gear from definitely seems to be a deliberate attempt from the Korean tech giant to take on the upcoming iWatch device from Apple. The market for wearable computing gadgets is getting hotter and hotter. We are yet to receive any update on the specs of Galaxy Gear.

If Samsung manages to release the device during the September event, the device is definitely going to arrive before the iWatch. This will let the Galaxy Gear gain good popularity in the market. Moreover, the device will be also advertised as an accessory for its powerful smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy Gear will be powered by Altius OS.

Samsung now has various kinds of products in the market such as smartphones, phablets, tablets, Android based camera and now it adds a smartwatch to the list. Apple and Samsung are not the only ones that are working on smartwatch, even Sony announced that it will be releasing a smartwatch called the Smart Watch 2 in the coming fall. Motorola had rolled out smart sports watch that could be easily paired Android powered smartphones. Now even other companies like LG, Google and Microsoft are rumored to be manufacturing smartwatch.

As of now, none of the major companies have launched smartwatch which shows we are yet to know how the audience will react to the product. We are also not sure whether the device will work as standalone device or users will have to use it by pairing it with their smartphone.

The wearable computing market is very new at the moment but the competition among the brands seems to be getting hotter already. The coming of the Samsung Galaxy Gear will surely fire up the battle between Apple and Samsung. First, it was only Apple that was working on smartwatch but now Samsung has also entered the battle ring.

There are several things tech enthusiasts are concerned about the new wearable type of gadget. We tend to charge our smartphones at the end of the day but we are not used to charging our watches at the end of the day. So, we are yet to know what solution manufacturers have in store for the battery life of their smartwatch.

Also, there is a risk of water seeping into the device since the unit is supposed to be worn on the wrist. We hope that the manufacturers are developing waterproof smartwatches so that we can use it without worrying about damaging it. So, IFA is the event that will reveal it all. Till then, we will keep you updated on it as and when we get to hear something interesting.
