Sony Xperia Z is one of the most premium smartphones Sony has ever manufactured. In the coming weeks, the Xperia Z will be released in US and will be available on a leading cellular network. Even though from quite some time there were rumors that the phone would be available with T-Mobile, there is no confirmation on which US carrier it will be available first.
In this year, several smartphones with high-end features were unveiled. Among them, Xperia Z which was showcased at the CES 2013 held in January surely stands out to be different. The Xperia Z is a dust-resistant and water resistant smartphone with manifold features. Several months passed since the unveiling of the Xperia Z but US release has been pending for the Xperia Z. Tech analysts feel that the ideal launching time for the phone would be to release it before the Galaxy S4 and HTC One came out in the market.
The news about release of Sony Xperia Z for US markets was announced at the D11 conference. During the event, the CEO of Sony, Kaz Hirai confirmed about the phone to be releasing in US in the coming weeks through a well-known carrier.
The most probably carrier to support the Xperia Z seems to be T-Mobile. The news seems to believable thanks to the numerous rumors that have come out in the recent past. Some feel that the Xperia Z is going to be available on AT&T’s network mainly because of close tie-ups with the manufacturer.
The Sony Xperia Z sports a 5inch full HD 1080p display. It is completely waterproof and resistant to dust. It is powered with Android 4.1 OS which can be upgraded to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It runs on 1.5GHz quad-core CPU, Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB RAM. The internal storage capacity of Xperia Z is 16GB. The microSD slot supports up to 64GB.
The Xperia Z has got a stunning 13MP camera which supports full HD 1080p video recording. The front cam of 2MP also supports full HD 1080p video recording. It has got plenty of other features like Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, MHL, USB on-the-go, GPS and GLONASS, TV-out, Bluetooth 4.0 and a non-removable 2330mAh battery.
As we said before, the timing of the Sony Xperia Z’s release in US seems to be wrong. The main reason behind it is that already the market is being ruled by the Galaxy S4 closely followed by the HTC One. Very soon other eagerly awaited phones like HTC One Google Edition, next-gen iPhone are going to be released soon. The Xperia Z will launch itself in the battlefield where major smartphones are already battling to push its competitors down.
The Sony Xperia Z is the best-selling smartphone in Japan which is the home country of the manufacturer. In Japan, there is no competition for Sony even though Samsung is also quite popular out there. In US, the scenario is completely different as customers have different smartphones from big names to choose from.
