Its Jelly bean time for owners of the Sony Xperia ZL smartphone. However, that applies to only users of the device in Europe. To be more specific, it is the Sony Xperia LTE C6503 (LTE) device that the Jelly Bean update is meant for. The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update can be availed of both off the air or via the Sony companion suite, though for latter, one will have to get the smartphone hooked up to the PC.
Sony has promised the update to Android Jelly Bean soon after both the Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL was launched. However, with the Xperia Z being the first to have hit the shelves, it happens to be the Xperia ZL that is the first to adopt the latest iteration of Android Jelly Bean. In contrast, the Xperia Z has been in the market for several weeks now. anyway, the update will bump the version to 10.3.A.0.423 on the Xperia ZL.
As for the update itself, there are quite a few goodies to look forward to. These include an enhanced screen widget function along with updates to the Sony’s media related apps. Then the update will also enable users to use 64 GB micro SD card which sure is a nice addition. However, there is no information if the update will make the Xperia ZL more battery efficient, the one factor that can be considered to be the smartphone’s Achilles heel given the stupendous performance the device boasts of on nearly all other parameters.
As for its specs, the Xperia Zl is powered by a 1.5 Ghz quad core Qualcomm chip, 16 GB of internal memory, 2 GB of RAM along with a 5 inch full HD capable display up front. The device also boasts of a 13 megapixel rear shooter complete with a flash along with a 2 megapixel unit at the front.
