STATES CHRONICLE – Stephen Hawking claimed that aggression could harm humanity and eventually destroy it due to technology advances and the thirst for war and revenge. Last November, Hawking’s apocalyptic prophecies hit an offensive ebb. Back then, the scientist argued that our planet will be destroyed in a thousand years and we will have two choices.
Humanity will need to choose between developing ways to move to cosmos or to face extinction. Nevertheless, now Stephen Hawking comes with a new prediction. He noted that Darwinian evolution might lay on the ground of world government. Hawking believes that humanity gradually transformed into a violent species because of the advancement of technology.
In this way, he stated that if a global government is imposed on people, this could be the only way to save our kind and our planet, steering us away from extinction. “The Independent” reported that the celebrated scientist has previously spoken about the dangers brought by the implementation of artificial intelligence. He stated that we might need to develop a method to identify threats before these menaces turn the Earth into a war zone.
The physicist argued that when civilization started, aggression has become a primary tool. It has its roots deep in our genes, being fueled by Darwinian evolution. However, the fast advancement of technology has also contributed to the growth of aggression which can now be experimented in various ways, probably leading to a future biological or nuclear war which might deter the whole race.
Stephen Hawking advised us to control the anger and rage we have inherited by using our reason and logic. Moreover, he stated that the implementation of a global government might help establish a world order, but, at the same time, it might fuel the burst of a new wave of aggression, causing, even more, problems. That may transform into a tyranny, he stated.
Nevertheless, the physicist claims that he believed the humankind would finally open its eyes to see the truth and to value what matters in life, overcoming all the challenges which may occur in the future. Some may think that the scientist might have been forced by someone to state all these predictions and to adopt this apocalyptic view of the world. Others may believe that the real problem is the media and how they convert or misinterpret certain data.
