In January this year, T-Mobile had revealed that they will be releasing LTE version of Samsung Galaxy S3. The time has come. The phone is available for purchase on T-Mobile’s online store. The Galaxy S3 LTE edition is priced at $550. Many may think that the price is quite high. Yes, indeed it is high. In fact, the price is almost on par with the price of HTC One. Few weeks ago, T-Mobile had started offering HTC One at the same price.
Even though the device was announced in the month of January, T-Mobile has finally managed to release the Galaxy S3 LTE edition. However, the release has been silent as T-Mobile did not reveal the release date or made any announcement before the release. Before Samsung Galaxy S4 came into the market, the S3 was the most desired smartphones in the market.
The Galaxy S3 with T-Mobile LTE support is now available on sale. However, the phone is not yet showing on T-mobile’s online store but when we spoke with T-Mobile’s customer care support, we were told that the device is available on sale and it can be purchased right away. We feel that T-Mobile may currently allowing people to place pre-order. Another report reveals that the phone will be launched on 5th June. Anyway, it is only about two weeks from now.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE edition from T-Mobile is same as the regular version of Galaxy S3 which was available with T-Mobile on its HSPA+42 network. It comes with 4.8inch Super AMOLED display which supports 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, Android 4.1, dual-core CPU, 8MP cam, 1.9MP front cam, sophisticated design, 16GB storage space, external storage space that can detect up to 64GB of microSD, dual GPS and 2100mAh battery. The only difference between the regular and LTE edition is the internet connectivity speed that will be delivered by the LTE edition.
Even though HSPA+42 speeds are quite fast for internet browsing and watching videos on the web, the LTE edition on T-Mobile’s network will users to experience speeds equivalent to Wi-Fi network. At the moment, the 4G LTE network of T-Mobile is not that big but it does plan to expand soon so that it can offer high speed connectivity to the entire US by the year end.
The device may seem quite expensive when you can find the recent HTC One available at a slightly higher price with LTE connectivity. The Galaxy S3 LTE edition is $30 cheaper than the flagship model from HTC and $80 cheaper than Galaxy S4.We are still not sure whether customers will be interested in buying the device as the phone is getting older and the price is not at all enticing.
