Google is trying its level best to deliver the best user experience. This time around it is the Google Chrome internet browser that has come with an exciting new feature. Just like you to a person, you will be able to talk to your computer that has Google Chrome browser installed in it. The new feature was showcased at the Google I/O event in the previous week.
Chrome has got a voice search feature which allows users to simply search for anything by speaking to the browser. The feature is not new but has been around for quite some time. However, the new update from Google allows your computer to talk to you. For instance, if you ask “Who is the president of USA?”, your Chrome browser will respond by saying, “The president of USA is Barrack Obama.”
The new voice search feature from Google for Chrome browser is called conversational search. This feature allows you to search for anything using natural language and tone. Chrome will let you know the answer verbally. To make use of this feature, you need to connect your microphone to your computer.
We feel the feature is in its initial stage and at the Google I/O event, Chrome did not gave out accurate answers. However, this happens only when it is not able to hear your question properly. If you happen to speak clearly, it will pick your words and shoot answers promptly.
It was also observed that only very easy questions were answered but when difficult queries were asked, Chrome could not answer verbally. So, when it is unable to hear properly or if the question is difficult for Chrome to answer, it will prompt you ask another question.
We cannot deny the fact that single-question searches were promptly answered correctly. You can turn on or off the conversational search feature by accessing the Google settings page. The answer is usually given out by female voice. As of now, there is no option to change the voice. Also, at present the conversation search feature only works with English language.
What do you think about the new conversational search feature from Chrome? Does it work well? Are you going to use this feature or turn it off? Do let us know by leaving your comments.
