Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Update in October

September 20, 2013 By Troy Rubenson 1 Comment

Samsung Galaxy S3 which arrived in May 2012 came with Android v4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. At the time of its release, Samsung had announced that the phone would get the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update and it did receive some time later. However, till now Galaxy S3 has not received Android 4.2 Jelly Bean but is going to be blessed with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

Rumors have it that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will get the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade in October. We hope the update is soon made available for Galaxy S3. At the beginning of this year, rumors about Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 were doing rounds that these smartphones would receive Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update. However, Samsung did not offer the updates citing that Android 4.2 updates had issues and the Korean giant preferred to give it a skip to make way for Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Samsung has not confirmed about the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S3 but the company stated that Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will be receiving new updates in October. Samsung explained that the new update would allow users of these devices to easily pair up with Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

In order to pair up Samsung Galaxy Gear with Galaxy smartphones mentioned in this post, a Bluetooth connection needs to be established. Android 4.3 Jelly Bean comes with Bluetooth Low Energy feature which is required for connecting Galaxy Gear with Galaxy smartphones. This clearly indicates that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is the update Samsung is hinting at which is to arrive in October.

Moreover, the above mentioned rumor is doubled with various leaks from different tech blogs that posted about Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. We have got a leaked photo that shows a Galaxy S3 running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The model number of the Galaxy S3 variant in the image is GT-I9300.

The possible reason why Samsung has not yet announced the Android 4.3 release for Galaxy S3 is that still the software may be in its testing phase. However, all the rumors point to the fact that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for Galaxy S3 will be released in the near future. However, we do not have the exact date yet.

If the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean arrives as speculated sometime in the month of October, it is likely that around the same time Google will launch a new Android update i.e. Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade. As of now, we are not sure whether Galaxy S3 will get Android 4.4 KitKat. However, Android 4.4 KitKat is supposed to support older devices. So, even if the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat is to come, it will definitely not arrive this year.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update Details Discussed

June 29, 2013 By Deborah Cobing Leave a Comment

After the launch of Samsung Galaxy S4, the Korean manufacturers made an announcement stating that some of the software updates of the flagship device will be available on the Galaxy S3 as well, which will be bundled as part of the Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update for the S3. Some advancement has been made in this matter, as there have been reports of a leaked ROM of 4.2.2 of Samsung Galaxy S3 only last month that hit the blogs. This situation very well indicates the official launch not being too far.

samsung-galaxy-s3

As also not each and every S3 out in the market runs on Android 4.1, those using this version need to do a little bit of catching up too. Luckily, for those living in Canada can update their version of the S3 to Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2. A great number of carriers have started rolling out the software update. Customers of Koodo, Telus, MTS, SaskTel as well as Fido can either opt for an OTA update or via Samsung Kies application.

As for customers of Bell and Rogers, the update has been released by these two carriers as well. Therefore setting up for an update on the device isn’t a difficult task now with the update being available. As for the changes that the update will bring along to the device include features like the advanced Camera apps with the best show feature that allows great clicks and also selects the best image form the five shots. Along with this comes the updated Gallery and advanced HSPA plus download speed options too. With these, the other most striking feature included is the Multi Window. For those aren’t quite familiar with the TouchWiz option that was introduced the previous year, this Multi Window feature is a multitasking kit that allows one to open different apps at the same time on the screen. This is done in a split screen backdrop.

Pre-release Version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Update Now Available for the Samsung Galaxy S3

June 29, 2013 By Jack M. Robinson Leave a Comment

The much awaited Android 4.2 jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 is finally over though it’s a pre-release version of the update that is now available for the past few days. So those who have been impatient for it now have something to look forward to. It is also expected that the update will introduce many of the features of the Galaxy S4 when it is launched, which is most likely to happen in July or August. Various sources has earlier pin pointed the update to be made available to the S3 as well as the Note 2 device during quarter 3 of this year. Even earlier estimates has predicted the months of May to June as most likely for the update for the erstwhile Samsung flagship devices to be released. That seems to have been postponed to allow Samsung to further fine tune TouchWiz UI.

S3

For those who wish to try out the new Android 4.2 update for the S3 can do so well before its official launch in July or in August.  SamMobile has confirmed that this version is only a pre-release version which means there are every possibility of it being buggy. It appears as if the released version has the features of Galaxy S4 as was announced by Samsung, which includes the latest camera feature, lockscreen, latest voice control as also latest S voice feature. The update is surely going to bring a change among the older version that one is using since its release in June 2012.

U.S. based carrier is expected to be lagging behind when it is about the releasing date. However, Sprint could be the exception here as it has proved to be ahead of the pack when it’s about launching updates for its devices.

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update For Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 Still in the Works

June 20, 2013 By Deborah Cobing 1 Comment

When it comes to Samsung, Sam Mobile is the best source for authentic news or information update on products related. Sam Mobile reports that Samsung mobile division had plans to come out with the update for their Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 devices. The update which was to push out the OS of these devices to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is yet in testing stages.  The update from Sam Mobile mentions the period of third quarter of this year which is July to September, when the update can be expected.

Galaxy-Note-2--S3

The update, the site mentions, is only for the non US region. Users in the US using the Verizon Wireless, Sprint, AT&T or T-Mobile services would need to wait much longer for their update. The Jelly Bean update to the Galaxy S3 sets from Verizon reported bugs in its working. Samsung would therefore be very careful when they come out with a next update on any of their devices.

As of now, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 runs the Android Jelly Bean while the Galaxy S3 variant on the other hand runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich in some regions and in others the OS is the older version of Jelly Bean 4.1. There is talk about Samsung having plans to make their TouchWiz application compatible for the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 models also. As of now the TouchWiz application is found on the Samsung Galaxy S4 models which is the flagship model from Samsung.

.Wall Street journal has posted news about Samsung Galaxy S4 not doing well in the market, quoting the “less stellar” look of the gadget to be the reason. This holds true for other gadgets from Samsung too, mentions the report. The Galaxy S3 model is cheaper by price than the Galaxy S4, however the looks of both gadgets is quite similar. Samsung faces the threat of not being able to meet sales targets of the Galaxy S4 as customers would think twice before spending more for a gadget that looks similar to something that is already available at a lower price.

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Update for Samsung Galaxy S3 Delayed

June 13, 2013 By Deborah Cobing Leave a Comment

The Galaxy S3 has been Samsung’s flagship model for 2012. The device was supposed to get the update to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and that too pretty soon. Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 however have reasons to be distressed as the software upgrade has been delayed. Though this is not confirmed or officially announced by Samsung, the source of information can be considered to be quite authentic.

S3

As of now Samsung have not made any mention about the release date of the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for their Galaxy S3 models. Talk and expectations of the update arriving had gained momentum in the past few days, till this tweet from Sam Mobile drowns it all.

According to the tweet from Sam Mobile, Samsung has plans to include the Touchwiz feature in its Jelly Bean update. This feature gives additional user friendly functions to the interface. There is however certain issues in the inclusion of this feature into the software update that is causing the delay of the update being made available. The TouchWiz user interface, for those who are not aware, is something that is found on the Samsung Galaxy S4 models and runs over the base or core OS.

Samsung was supposed to roll out the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for its Galaxy Note 2 sets also. Owners of the Galaxy 2 would also have to wait and bear this delay.

Talking about the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update, there is another Jelly Bean update that Verizon is coming out for their Samsung Galaxy S3 models. The tweet from Sam Mobile about the delayed launch is not for this Verizon update.  Verizon have recently rolled out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS. This updated OS has many functionalities of the TouchWiz included in it.

T-Mobile Replacing Standard Samsung Galaxy S3 With LTE Capable S3 Models

May 28, 2013 By Janet Vasquez Leave a Comment

The T-Mobile and Samsung Galaxy S3 mystery seems to have been solved. Gotta Be Mobile, reports having received official confirmation from T-Mobile that they are in the process of replacing their Samsung Galaxy S3 models with Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE. The new device would be able to make the best of the carrier’s new high-speed network.

s3

T-Mobile had let it known they would be launching the Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE compatible device and the Galaxy Note 2 sometime later in this year during the CES 2013 event itself. For ensuring that the devices are compliant with their new 4G LTE network, T-Mobile would effect a change in the hardware of the S3, while for the Note 2, a software update is all that would be needed for it to run on 4G LTE network. The update too had been released and while its seems to be all quiet on the Note 2 front, it’s the S3 that has led to quite some confusion. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S3 LTE had also made a brief appearance at the T-Mobile website. It was supposed to be launched only on June 5. The listing however went off shortly thereafter.

A statement by T-Mobile Spokesperson cleared the confusion saying, “the week of May 20th, T-Mobile will begin to replenish its existing Galaxy S III inventory with an updated version of the Smartphone that will be able to access T-Mobile’s new 4G LTE network in the currently available markets.”

T-Mobile also mentioned about the availability of the upgraded Galaxy SIII from their online store as well as some retail locations at a price of $69.99 down payment and then $20 installments for 24 months. However, the spec list at the site does not mention if it’s the LTE capable S3 that is being offered. The site only mentions it as having HSPA+ 42 capabilities.

Also, it seems the S3 is also available from a few retail locations as well though the total retail price of the device might end up being $570, which does not seem to be a very attractive price for a device that’s a generation old. As for the June 5 date that had found mention on its site, that seems to refer to when T-Mobile would have completely replaced all of its older version of the Galaxy S3 with the upgraded and higher network compatible devices.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Gets Android 4.2.2 Unofficial Update, Official Update Coming in June

May 25, 2013 By Deborah Cobing 2 Comments

Here is the piece of good news that owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 has been looking for. The latest iteration of Android, version 4.2.2 is all set to debut in the previous Samsung flagship device in June itself. However, there is even better news available though that applies to the geeks who don’t mind tinkering with their device’s ROM. For the above mentioned update via unofficial channels is already reported to have hit the scene. Samsung too is reported to be in the final stages with the official update and since it will be released just this June, those who are not bold enough to flash their ROMs need not despair either.

s3

Also of course, the update will introduce lots of exciting new features to the Galaxy S3. While it’s a certainty not all of the S4’s capabilities will make it to the S3, what is also almost certain is that many will eventually reach the S3. In any case, Galaxy S3 owners can look forward to some cool new features such as a new lockscreen animation, notification area that has been spruced up, and S Voice that has been enhanced a lot to allow for a thoroughly engaging experience.

Other features that Galaxy S3 owners can look forward to post the update include the new shortcut buttons that Android 4.2.2 has to offer. Then there also is the Daydream feature to look forward to, which when invokes will make the device to set screensavers on its own. Or it can also function as a digital photo frame or an alarm clock depending on how the user wishes to see the device.

If all of the above seem enticing enough to try out the update right away, click here. Or for those who’d like to walk the beaten path, the official update will be available just next month itself.
