While other manufacturers are completely abandoning them altogether, Samsung seeks to reignite interest in pocket cameras using an innovation that promises to give a touch of freshness to these almost obsolete accessories. Samsung may amaze us with a transparent display camera.
Although they fell in disgrace after the rise of smartphones and tablets with camera function, yet pocket compact cameras are monitored by manufacturer Samsung, which just launched NX mini, a very small compact mirrorless camera that includes a folding screen. But if the new patent will be put into practice, the folding screen could be replaced with a transparent one in future models through which users can look at the subject while the camera is pointed at the image.
The transparent display camera innovation may be applicable to the D-SLR range
Although the above explanatory sketch illustrates a compact camera, that does not mean that Samsung cannot use the new type of screen for advanced cameras as well, such as the D-SLR range. As far as the existence of a real product that has the characteristics described in the patent from Samsung, rumors have not revealed any indication, the manufacturer being now concerned with the release of hybrid cameras such as Samsung Galaxy Zoom.
If the patents mentioned above will in fact become a real object, only time will tell. In the meantime, let’s not forget that Samsung has proved to be an innovative and competitive manufacturer in the past years, like experimenting with various projects, such as the integration of Wi-Fi into cameras creating a hybrid model made from a compact cameras and a smartphones, known as the Galaxy Zoom, an HD 4.8” smartphone, with 19 MP, Android 4.4.2, Samsung Exynos 5 chipset, with a six core processor. This new idea of creating a transparent display camera might just give it the push it needs.
