The novelties that social media bring to its users are always fresh and generous. Twitter’s new features include Direct Group Messaging and Mobile Video and they have been announced on Tuesday’s Twitter blog. The video feature includes shooting and posting directly from the app that is in the users’ mobile phone. Both new fresh features come after the release of a former one in the 21st of January, which can help maintain the interest of the followers by bundling together the best tweets of a users and posting them while he is away.
As far as the group messaging aspect is concerned, Twitter product director Jinen Kamdar states that users can form a group that sends messages to each other, without the need of following the others, individually. The maximum number of people who can enter a chat is 20, and those who are invited to the chat room are sent a notification. The idea has been made public in November, when Twitter said that they are in search of finding a way for people to send messages privately to groups, and not just to individuals, as well as to expand their video experience.
“You might want to continue a public conversation privately with a smaller group, or start one based on a Tweet you saw. Many of you use Direct Messages to reach the people and brands you’re only connected to on Twitter. Whatever the case may be, the ability to converse privately with groups gives you more options for how and with whom you communicate on Twitter.”
Twitter mobile apps also bring towards the users the capturing, editing and sharing tool that has been bought from Vine in October 2012. The video-clips can be just 30 seconds long, but it is a number that is 5 times bigger than the video-clips that were posted online through the old Vine. Taking the two apps and merging them together created some sort of a commodity for the users, because they don’t have to capture with the phone’s camera, edit with a video editor and post with another additional app. Mr. Kamdar said that all there features will be available for users in the next couple of weeks. He believes that with the help of these new components, Twitter will see and give to its users “rich and engaging content” every single day.
The innovations will be working properly on most devices, including Apple ones and those in favor of an Android operating system.
