A new iPad Mini 2 is hotly anticipated in the fall season though some also believe its release could be pushed back to early 2014 to allow iPad 5 some breathing space before being swamped up again by the mini version. That the latter has emerged more popular than the 9.7 inch sized iPad is all too well known. Also, it’s all too obvious the next iPad series including the new iPad Mini 2 will run the latest iOS 7 OS. And it’s here that the analysts seem to have hit something definitive. This being the new standard font used in iOS 7 which is thinner than what can presently be seen on the iOS 6 version. This, the experts believe is a strong indicator of the iPad Mini 2 to come with a Retina display as the font won’t look as good on a device with a lower resolution. Whatever else the effect of this conclusion and necessity, it would sure have an effect on the pricing of the gadget.
However, on the other hand, tech geeks out there opine that in order for Apple to be able to compete effectively in the segment that is increasingly becoming price conscious, Apple too will have to keep the price factor in focus. Tablets today are available aplenty and most of them are quite affordable. Best examples to be drawn in this genre are the Kindle Fire HD and the Nexus 7.
Also, with prices falling, another interesting development in the tablet segment is the feverish pace at which it is growing. Reports indicate that tablets would soon overtake laptops and desktops so far as revenue earnings go.
Canalys have come out with figures that authenticates this speculation of tablet sales taking over the laptop and desktop sales. The figures refer to the shipment details of the tablets and that of laptops and desktops where the decline of desktop and laptop shipment is evident. Almost half a billion computers are expected to be shipped this year with the tablets being favored by consumers over other forms of computers. As per Canalys, 37 percent of the sales this year in the computer sector would be tablets and that figure would touch 59 percent in the following year.
Release of the iPad Mini 2, though officially not confirmed, is expected sometime in September. It would be with a more powerful processor, a new camera and the retina display that can be expected with the iPad Mini 2. The device would logically need more battery power to support the retina display. Price can be expected not to be as costly as the current Apple devices are. A figure of $250 has been speculated by a tech analyst based on the price of similar gadgets in markets like China and other Asian countries.
