Majority of Google’s revenue come from ads shown during search. Google has the majority share in the internet search engine category and the same applies to Google Maps. Over 80% of online users use Google Maps to help finding location of a business or navigating in the right direction. If the reports of the technology magazine TechCrunch is to be believed, ads are now back in Google maps for iOS version. At times Google ads are annoying as they occupy some portion of your smartphone screen. But most of the users also find them useful if they are looking for businesses in and around their place of stay or the location they are searching for.
As per the statement released by Google, these ads are supposed to be more relevant which will be more attractive for users and effective for advertisers. The ads will be based on the user’s search history. The ads will use a familiar template from Google AdWords and will include business titles, a snippet of the ad text which includes the reviews of the business, address, store timings, and the contact details including the website and phone number. The snippet of the ad text also reveals the travelling time and the direction to reach the searched location. To access this information, the users need to swipe upward.
If you are a business owner and do not mind paying extra to Google AdWords, then they can subscribe to the click to call and one click directions to your business. Free features like saving or sharing the contact details with friends are also available in the ads. As per Google, AdWords will charge the advertiser for the two paid clicks per ad impression. Returning of ads in Google Maps will provide an opportunity to market Apple Maps for the iOS.
