Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS Features

The much awaited version of newest Android has been released. After Android 4.2.2 was made official, tech enthusiasts were not sure whether Google will roll upgraded version of Android Jelly Bean i.e. Android 4.3 or release the next version of Android i.e. Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. However, now the doubt has disappeared because Google has finally released the Android 4.3 OS.

As usual, Google has made the Android 4.3 exclusively available on its Google Nexus devices. Among the Nexus devices, the Nexus 7 2 is the first one to release and come out with the new Android 4.3 OS. Since it is the upgraded version of Jelly Bean, there are not many significant changes to the OS. However, performance improvements are something you will experience when you use an Android 4.3 powered device.

Here are some of the features of the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade:

Multi-User Restricted Profiles
This is the first thing you will notice in the new upgrade. Through this feature, you can control how the apps and other content present on your phone will be used on a user level. This feature is already available on Android 4.2 but it did not allow users to create restrictions.

Parents will simply like this feature. With the restricted profile feature, you can make the app behave differently. For instance, if you are using a free app with restricted profile feature activated, it won’t show in-app buying functionality. The feature will also be beneficial for businesses. At retail shops, POS systems can make use of this feature.

Bluetooth Smart Technology
Bluetooth Smart technology has been available in OS since last year but it is only now that this feature has come to Android through the 4.3 Jelly Bean update. The technology makes it possible to consume less power while connecting to newer Android devices that come with Bluetooth Smart feature. The Bluetooth AVRCP 1.3 support allows you to transmit details like title and name of the artist of the song.

Open GL ES 3.0
If you like gaming, then the Android 4.3 update will offer you better graphics through Open GL ES 3.0. Flares and reflections will appear clear than ever. If you do not like gaming, you may not feel the significant presence of this feature. However, the coming of Open GL ES 3.0 has surely extended the horizons for the developers.

Other Enhancements
The Android dialer will now be able automatically complete the phone numbers and names. Again many users may not notice the Android dialer upgrade because manufacturers like Samsung is already offering this feature their proprietary user interface.

The Emoji keyboard is also something that you will see on the new Android upgrade. The feature can be started by going to the Language & input menu in Settings. After starting this feature, you can access emoticons to express your feelings by long-pressing on the spacebar button to bring up the emoticon list.

The Wi-Fi scan-only feature will help you from getting your battery exhausted. After starting this feature, even when the Wi-Fi is disabled, Google’s location service and apps will be able to search for networks.

Verdict
As we mentioned before, we don’t see any significant change to the OS with the new Android 4.3 upgrade. Most of the improvements have been done under the hood and they are mostly related to the performance. The only major update is the arrival of Restricted Profiles feature. This new update will certainly make Android enthusiasts to yearn for the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie OS launch.
