Anonymous New Yorker tips waitress 3000 dollars and saves her from being evicted on the streets.
If leaving a waitress a tip of a few dollars may sound to much, how does $3,000 sound?
Mike, is a man from New York, who preferred to remain anonymous after tipping his waitress $3,000 for his $43.5 bill. Mike and the woman have known each other for a while now, as he was a regular customer where she is working and the woman would often go to see his Broadway shows. It seems that the waitress had told him about the struggles she was going trough and in a way, that touched him.
He left a brief explanation for his gesture on the back of the receipt. He said that she reminded him of his eight grade teacher who inspired him trough his actions. He thanked the woman for coming to his Broadway shows and told her that he hopes that someone will give the same amount of happiness and love into the world as she does.
The woman who he described as a lovely person, was dealing with financial problems and she was about to be kicked out of her house. Mike knew her for about a year and stated that she really needed the money and her mood changed for better after that.
Mike recalled that his eight grade science teacher introduced him to the “pay it forward” concept and that remained in his head ever since.
The “pay it forward” idea has started to increase in America and has encouraged people to respond to good deeds for no reason but being kind. It is like a chain of good actions towards other people, even people you don’t know and who are completely strangers.
For instance when standing in line, if a person needed 5 extra $ to pay and didn’t have it, someone might help him/her. In this way that person can choose to act the same towards someone else.
In Australia there are certain coffee shops who have a rule, where people can buy a cup of coffee for someone who can’t afford it.
Mike’s science teacher, Ray Specht has set the basis of The ReesSpecht Life project after he had lost his son in a car crash, when he was just a toddler.
Mike described him as an incredible human being and his foundation is something that was born out of something tragic that makes wonderful things happen. He admitted that he has been thinking about this for a while and decided that he had to put it in practice.
His action seems to have inspired also the waitress he tipped $3,000 who said that she will become a “pay it forward” believer and she will continue to do that.
