Apple revealed design details on the Apple Park building
STATES CHRONICLE – After years of working and building, Apple will finally offer us a peek inside the new Apple Park campus. The main building looks like a harmonious mix between nature and architecture, which work together to give life to the campus. Besides from images of this ‘spaceship’, Apple is going to offer images of its interior, and details about its original design.
Mixing nature and architecture
Official sources indicate that Steve Jobs wanted to build a campus where architecture and nature are in a strong connection. Also, the center of the building should look like a landed spaceship. The preparations took several years, but the construction has finally started. These big plans turned Apple Park into the most ambitious project of the company.
Steve Jobs came up with the idea of a new headquarters for Apple in 2004. However, the preparations started only in 2009, when Jobs started collaborating with Norman Foster, the architect who was able to bring Jobs’ dream to reality.
The Ring boosts the employee creativity
Besides from offering harmony and beauty to the building, Jobs wanted to boost the creativity of the workers. Therefore, there are many pods placed all around Apple Park, for people to go there and gather creative energy, or collaborate with others, and foster ideas. Walls have been torn down to encourage team work and the sharing of ideas.
This made for the initial design of the building as a clover leaf. However, plans changed and it ended up being shaped like a circle or, more precisely, a ring. It’s not clear who came up with the idea of the Ring, as it came into being just to bring employees together.
The Apple Park campus surprises with its unusual design and the huge stretch of glass which spreads all over the Ring building. It is something unseen before, which breeds creativity. Steve Jobs’ dream was fulfilled, and the spaceship of innovation came into being.
