Apple Manages to Cross 9 Million iPhones Sales in Just One Week after Launch

The new iPhone i.e. the iPhone 5S has turned out to be yet another winner for Apple. However, the prospects of budget friendly iPhone 5C seem meek. On Monday, Apple had announced that managed to sell nine million new iPhones in just three days after being made available to the market.

The Cupertino company is quite happy with the launch results of new handsets and feel that its quarterly sale and profit margin will be high compared to what was thought of. In the month of July, Apple managed to achieve sales of $35 billion and $37 billion and gross profit was around 36 percent. On Nasdaq, Apple’s stock climbed to 5 percent and ended at $490.64.

Apple

Another good news coming from Apple’s camp is that more than 200 million iDevices are running on the latest iOS7. The update has come to iDevices like iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch. Apple has managed to break its previous record by achieving nine million sales over the weekend of the launch. The Apple iPhone 5 had managed to salvage 5 million sales in its launching weekend. Even tech analysts are surprised because they had expected that Apple would achieve sales of about seven million for the new iPhones.

Analysts who have analyzed the new record that Apple has achieved have concluded that it is mainly because the company has launched the new devices in China which is the largest smartphone market in the world. The record number of sales not only includes purchases made by the consumers but also sales done by selling the new units to the retailers.

The popularity of the new iPhone 5S is so much that the company has exhausted the inventory of the said handset. However, sizeable numbers of iPhone 5C have not been sold yet. Some analysts feel that the Apple has released inflated results on Monday. According to one analyst around three to four million iPhone 5C units are still with retailers. He also added that only 5.5 million of both handsets have been sold to the consumers till now.

When Apple had announced about the sales it achieved this Monday, they did not break down the sales so that the audience could clear idea of the sales it achieve. The company only added that they have sold all the iPhone 5S units. On Monday, CEO of Apple, Tim Cook thanked all the customers through Twitter for giving the company a wonderful weekend.

It is not easy to determine the demand for the new iPhones because this time around Apple has launched both the handsets in eleven countries. The iPhone 5 was launched in nine countries last year. This time around Apple is concentrating on China which is huge smartphone market that Apple had not capitalized well before.

Analysts feel that the popularity of newly launched iPhones is better than what they had expected. This fact could be well understood through longer queues at retail outlets than previous year. Some tech experts are not happy with the pricing of iPhone 5C and feels that the device is priced high even though it is a mid-range smartphone.

Between the two newly launched iPhones, customers prefer to purchase iPhone 5S. One company that analyzed the sales result said that 88 percent of the handsets that were sold were iPhone 5S units. Another company that analyzed the sales of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C through app downloads concluded that the iPhone 5S was 3.5 times more than iPhone 5C.

Apple’s chief executive, Raj Aggarwal said that the beginning data does not show how the iPhone 5C sales will continue later on. He added that the sales of iPhone 5C may have been disturbed by hard-core purchasers who bought the iPhone 5S.
