Canadian mall holder and administrator Triple Five Group is preparing to build the biggest shopping center in the U.S., the American Dream Miami mall.
The Edmonton, Alberta-based organization already holds two of North America’s biggest malls-West Edmonton Mall in Canada and Minneapolis- based Mall of America.The company additionally owns the American Dream Meadowlands shopping center to open at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in New Jersey by the end of 2016.
American Dream Miami shopping center is proposed to be based on 200-acre of land in northwestern Miami-Dade county, with the venture estimated to cost about $4 billion and employ around 25,000 laborers. It will be will be twice as big as the 100-acre Mall of America in Minnesota.
Construction will allegedly require 25,000 employees, and about that many constant employments are projected to be required to keep the complex running as envisioned by Triple Five.
With respect to the negative feedback that a large part of these jobs would be low-paying retail and tourism occupations, Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez told the Miami Herald that all jobs are welcomed, but there is some disarray concerning the exact number of jobs to be created. Gimenez noted:
“Everybody is focused on high-paying jobs. Not everybody is qualified for them. Twenty-thousand jobs are twenty-thousand jobs.”
Triple Five Group is nearly held, claimed and worked by the Iranian-Canadian Ghermezian family. It was established by Iranian rug retailer Jacob Ghermezian.
The proposed venture comes at a time when big shopping centers are said to be losing their popularity as clients tend to go to online retailers and markdown superstores. Many malls have effectively shut down during the past few years. Be that as it may, Triple Five advertises its shopping centers as not-to-miss destinations, not just malls.
The American Dream Miami is described as a standout among standard shopping centers, with gigantic amusement and gaming areas having a ski slant filled with 800 feet of artificial snow, skating arena, roller coaster, Ferris Wheel, an indoor lake with submarine excursions, inns, apartment suites, mini golf, water park and a live ocean lion for display.
The shopping center will be aiming for affluent international tourists from Canada, Europe, Brazil, Colombia, and Argentina, and not the local residents in particular. International visitors are said to invest much more time and money in their shopping trips as compared to Americans. Foreign guests constitute 33% of traffic at shopping centers like the Aventura Mall, as per Miami Today.
