The Super Bowl is an event that doesn’t focus only on the game that rolling and conquering all media possible, but also about the commercials. These particular ones are high quality spots that release the most brilliant novelties that big companies with a very well known name bring on the market. As a result, the combination between the two ends up being a super-event that everybody want to be part of. Dish senior VP Vivek Khemka said in a press release that Sunday is going to be about two things: football and commercials, for the reason that both of them are entertaining and customers love them.
But what about those who only want to see the commercial and celebrity cameos part of their weekend’s special? Dish Network users are being offered a solution for this issue. The company’s DVRs will have a Reverse AutoHop feature that will be activated by the Hopper. In this way, it will skip the entire game and play only the commercials. Unfortunately, only those who are Dish users can apply for this interesting feature. Moreover, the option will become available on Sunday only after the football game will finish, when re-watching the commercials could be more fun than imagined. The only condition that the users must respect is having a Hopper DVR with Dish’s Prime Time Anytime activated and ready for NBC before the games will start. However, the performance of Katy Perry at the halftime of the game hasn’t been put into discussion yet, if it could be skipped or not. The only certain part of the plan is that the Dish Reverse AutoHop will show only the commercials from the Super Bowl.
Bill Koenigsberg, the CEO of Dish’s parent company Horizon Media said that
“We have several clients running Super Bowl ads this year, and Dish’s creative technology means more people will see those ads……Making these entertaining ads ‘appointment watching’ after the game puts the brands front and center for an even wider audience.”
In addition, the NBC wants to post the ads on Tumblr, immediately after they were shown during the game. The purpose is to bring the people- the commercial fans- back to the roots, in particular to watching commercial the old style way, on the TV, and not on YouTube like they do it nowadays. The company believes that all these methods are going to raise the importance of the content in the commercials and will bring their echo to another level into the eyes of customers. Unfortunately, the Reverse Autohop is an unnecessary alternative for some, because of the fact that the game will stream on YouTube and the commercial will be uploaded after the game is over.
