Now that holidays are approaching, we all need to pay careful attention to everything we eat because we might be tended to consume more than we need or even eat more unhealthy foods than usual. Experts recommend a healthy snack like peanuts which are legumes. A team of scientists at the Imperial College of London and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology had examined 29 previous types of research which tested about 819,000 subjects.
After analyzing the results of previous studies, they have determined that those who had a snack consisting of nuts every day they seemed to present lower risks of developing heart diseases or cancer compared to people who did not consume such foods. What is more, those who preferred nuts were also less exposed to developing infections, diabetes or respiratory conditions.
The co-author of the study, Dagfinn Aune from the School of Public Health at Imperial, has argued that they have unveiled a significant reduction in risk to develop several kinds of severe diseases. Thus, this represents a powerful suggestion that nut consumption is strongly related to several health results.
Regarding the fact that all we need to maintain ourselves healthy lies in a handful of nuts, the outcome is tremendous, having the benefit of reducing a lot of unwanted health problems which could later occur during our life. Even if nuts are very well-known to be high in fat, scientists argued that the most important thing about them is the fact that they are an excellent source of protein and fibers.
Nuts are rich in polyunsaturated fats and magnesium. Particular types of nuts, pecans, and walnuts, contain antioxidants which are meant to fight against cancer. Based on data provided by Aune, previous studies did not draw a clear-cut distinction between salted and unsalted nuts. She advised people to eat both salted and unsalted nuts for a healthier life.
