Before their 50th anniversary, Ford revealed their newest car, a high-performance vehicle called Ford Shelby GT350. This is the sixth-generation Mustang car and Ford decided to show it off before the 2014 Auto Show in Los Angeles.
There have been plenty of rumors and speculations regarding the new Ford car and it was finally revealed. The new Ford Shelby GT350 is supposed to be better than the previous GT500.
The new Ford Shelby GT350 comes with a 5.2 liter V8 and more than 500 hp. It features at 400 pound-feet of torque and has a six-speed manual transmission. Some predicted that the new Ford Shelby GT350 will run on more than 600 hp but Ford said that the new engine is the most powerful one they’ve ever built. Some may argue that it’s not as powerful as the GT500’s which has a 662 hp engine and a 5.8 liter supercharged V8, but Ford says that sometimes what’s important is how the power is applied.
Ford also said that the new engine comes with a broad torque curve and a free-revving technology that will definitely make the new Ford Shelby GT350 more usable. It looks like Ford combined some aspects from their previous cars and added them on the new Shelby. When it comes to suspension the new Ford Shelby GT350 is the first Ford car to feature magnetic dampers. These dampers use fluid filled with iron particles and this helps control stiffness in a very precise way.
Another great thing about the new Ford Shelby GT350 is the way it looks. We’ve previously seen computer generated images of the new car, but seeing it live is a different experience altogether. The new changes include an aluminum hood (designed to maximize the cooling of the engine), a front fascia that is more aggressive than on previous cars and widened fenders. The new fenders are designed to accommodate the 19 inch wheels.
At the back of the car we have a lip spoiler and a rear diffuser, two things that are indispensable for any car that respects itself.
The new Ford Shelby GT350 looks very modern, something we would expect from any contemporary Mustang.
