These times are fascinating times to live in, technology wise. Just last week we saw how Panasonic unveiled a new pin-sized battery that is going to fit perfectly with smart glasses and other wearables. Today, we’re going to take a look at gesture control and how gesture control phones are coming in 2015.
Gesture Control Phones
Say goodbye to touch screens, because gesture control phones are coming next year. You’ll be able to unlock your phone, swipe left and right, up and down through gestures in mid-air. Think Tom Cruise’s Minority Report!
A new company called Elliptic Labs created gesture control technology; last year it presented the concept at the CEATEC tech conference in Tokyo and it was pretty impressive. But at this year’s conference that has just ended, Elliptic Labs showcased their smart ultrasonic technology that is ready to be incorporated into smartphones and other gadgets.
The company revealed that it already signed partnership deals and the first gesture control phones will be hitting the market at the beginning of 2015. We wonder is Apple wants a piece of this pie?
The most interesting feature of this technology is Multi Layer Interaction, which enables the phone display various content that is based on the distance between the user’s hand and the handset.
Laila Danielsen, Elliptic Labs chief executive office, said this in a statement:
Without touching the device, as your hand moves towards your phone for example, the screen lights up and information is displayed. As you continue to move your hand closer, different information is revealed. It’s all about improving the user experience and by presenting easier ways to interact with mobile devices. Our new Multi Layer Interaction makes it faster to work with applications you use repeatedly during the day, such as checking messages, playing games, navigating maps, interacting with social media, and watching videos.
