Gmail for Windows 10 receives useful updates for the Mail and Calendar apps

STATES CHRONICLE – Microsoft does not cease to offer new features and benefits to their users. Thus, they will soon offer new Calendar and Mail apps for Gmail on Windows 10. After having tried for many years to improve the performance of these apps, they have finally announced the new features which will make for a better user experience.

Brand new features in the Calendar app

Here are some of the new features that Microsoft has announced. The top change has been highly requested by many users, so now they will be able to select different colors for each event they introduce on their schedule.

Also, users can discover events which happen in their area and, if they are interested, they can choose to follow them and get more information on them. Also, Bing will suggest them popular locations, so they will not have to search for them all the time.

If you schedule an online meeting in your calendar, the app will offer you the option to organize it on Skype. Office 365 accounts will receive an assistant which will help you make schedules. Also, both the calendar and the mail app will contain summary cards which grant you quick access to different information, such as details on a reservation you made or on a package you are expecting.

Focused Inbox helps you communicate more easily

We should not forget to mention the feature which is probably the top change made by Microsoft. Gmail will feature a Focused Inbox update. By using machine learning, it will establish which emails are top priority and adds them to a special folder in your inbox called “Focused”. The other emails will be sent to an “Other” folder.

Thus, communicating via email will become much easier. This will help users browse more quickly through overwhelming amounts of email. Moreover, the mail app will now allow people to mention other people in their emails.

You can “summon” a person in an email by typing an @ symbol before their name. Thus, their name will be automatically highlighted, and they will be added in the “To” field, so they would also receive a copy of the email. If they have an Outlook account, they will also receive a preview of the message.

Everything sounds perfect, but some users might think some requirements of the app would violate their privacy. To make use of the features, users will have to allow Microsoft to take a copy of their contacts, calendar, and email to Microsoft Cloud.
