Last week we saw how Google is being threatened with a $100 million lawsuit over the celebrity naked pictures that were splashed all over the web after iCloud accounts were hacked. Today, we’re going to take a look at another Google news, but this time, it’s a great news. It appears that Google will start to put security guards on payroll; up until now, the tech giant hired security guards and janitors through outside contractors.
Google Will Start to Put Security Guards on Payroll
The news broke that Google will start to put security guards on payroll and par ways with the third-party companies that used to supply security guards, janitors and even cooks. Google will hire about 200 people as security guards at its headquarters in Mountain View, California.
Up until now, Google used outside contractors to hire security guards and janitors and almost always, the men and women who were hired were underpaid immigrants. Google’s bold choice to put these people on their payroll means that they will offer their new employees the same benefits they offer to their regular employees.
A Google spokesperson released a statement which read:
Building an in-house security team is something we are excited to do. A year ago we insourced the Google security operations center and we are looking forward to making these valued positions both full- and part-time Google employees.
This isn’t just great news for anyone who wants to work for Google, but for most people who are planning such jobs with tech giants, as Google’s move will surely influence other companies to make similar changes.
