Capture different Pokémon depending on where you are in the world.

STATES CHRONICLE – Undoubtedly, one of the biggest reveals for the gaming industry in 2015 was the announcement related to Pokémon Go. Pokémon fans all over the world were excited to hear about the mobile game that will allow you to find, capture, and fight Pokémon on the go. But there hasn’t been much talk about it since then, and now, finally, Niantic confirms gyms and “tall grass” for Pokémon Go.

So far, all that we’ve know about Pokémon Go was that it will brought to us by Niantic, that they will partner up with the Pokémon Company, and that it’s due to come out in 2016.

Now, finally, John Hanke, chief executive of Niantic, and Mike Quigley, chief marketing officer at Niantic, talked a bit about the project and about some of their goals. Not very much though, they wouldn’t want to get us excited just yet.

First of all, Hanke talked a bit about the ‘tall grass’ system, although he didn’t refer to it like that. What he said was that he wants people to just go out of the house and within 5 minutes be able to encounter and capture a Pokémon.

Rare Pokémon will indeed be hard to find, but there will be Pokémon populations living next to all the players.

Additionally, he confirmed the existence of Gyms, where you can level up and have fights with your Pokémon, but he said that they won’t be very common-place, but they won’t be very rare either.

He then proceeded to talk about location-based Pokemon, and how water types will be able to be found near water, rock types will be found in the mountains, and so on, and so forth.

Travelling and trading will be very important parts in the game, as you won’t be able to find Pokémon of too many different types close by, so players will be encouraged to go out, travel extensively, and trade with people from different parts of the world.

There will also be conventions and competitions, where players can either simply meet up and trade Pokémon, or have battles for them.

If I’ve managed to capture your interest with the article, or if you don’t care and just want to watch the trailer for the game, you can do so below.
