STATES CHRONICLE – Some doctors advise people to prevent getting flu shots, using instead alternative medicine. We have all noticed that flu season is here. If you look for ways to prevent getting sick, two vaccines especially made for adults over 65 appeared. One of them has a higher dose of the last year’s vaccine. The other type of flu shot is made with a substance developed to increase the response of the body.
Doctors recommend getting the regular flu shot if the new one is not available yet. For people who have egg allergies, there have been developed two types of vaccines which are egg-free. If you are among the persons who are afraid of needles, then you could use the vaccine which has a small, insignificant needle. This is designed to go only into the skin, and not the muscle. If you don’t want to be stung at all, then medicine offers you another alternative. A vaccine which works with a jet injector could be useful. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention do not recommend the intranasal flu vaccine because its effectiveness is still questioned.
Doctors advise people to take a flu vaccine, irrespective of the concentration or form it has. In the US, the flu annually kills twenty thousand people. These flu vaccines are primordial for pregnant women, children, and seniors. Women who have received the vaccine were less exposed to miscarriages. Even if you are a healthy person, you need to take the vaccine to protect your state of health.
On the other hand, a new study has revealed that children who are taught by their parents to use alternative health providers will probably not get flu shots. Researchers have discovered that out of nine thousand children, those who have obtained alternative therapies were 39% less likely to have their flu shots done during the last year.
Poland, a representative of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, argued that some practitioners of alternative medicine have advised parents to avoid getting their children vaccinated. Another specialist and research assistant at Pennsylvania State University, William Bleser assured people there is nothing dangerous in using alternative therapy for children, on the contrary.
What is your call: would you vaccinate your child against the flu or would you use alternative medicine to protect your baby?
