Tech giant IBM has announced a new product, an email application called Verse, designed for companies and enterprises that use social media, analytics and file sharing in order to increase the businesses’ productivity level.
The IBM Verse email application is a $100 million investment, money that went into design innovation, layers of analytics, security and social media applications. The IBM Verse allow the employees to access the email addresses, share files, instant messaging, video chats and social updates, all in a single platform.
The IBM Verse email application is the first to feature a “faceted search”, which allows the user to pinpoint and retrieve the information needed, searched for all around the various types of content withering the email.
Anmol Nautiyal, the IBM Smarter Workforce and IBM Social Business Director said of the new email application that:
“With IBM Mail Next, we have applied analytics to enterprise email in a very unique way, and challenged our design teams to completely re-imagine the social collaboration experience with focus on engaging people and driving outcomes, not managing messages and inboxes.”
IBM Verse can provide the user instant information about a specific project and the people who worked on it. The Verse email application uses built-in analytics to provide a quick view of the actions the employee has to take on a specific day.
IBM says that the new Verse application was designed to help companies unlock the employees’ full potential.
“Although email is considered one of the most significant advances in workforce productivity over the past 30 years, today it has become one of the greatest organisational burdens,”
Nautiyal added.
IBM will first launch the beta version of the Verse email application, and a free premium version will follow starting with the first quarter of 2015.
Many companies worldwide use Notes, IBM’s enterprise mail service, and more than 50,000 use IBM Connections, IBM’s social platform intended for businesses.
IBM Verse email application will compete with two other popular email applications, Microsoft’s Outlook and Google’s Inbox email service.
Last month, Google has launched a new email service called Inbox, which is said to help employees organize the emails and to show information like flight booking and appointments.
