The Secretary of the State, John Kerry is planning to pay a visit to the family of the innocent US diplomat who was killed in Afghanistan. He will be going to Chicago when he would return from his 10 days oversees tour. The young diplomat had been killed in the earlier days of this month. The name of the diplomat was Anne Smedinghoff who had been killed in a bomb blast. Moreover, 4 other Americans were also killed in the same blast. The blast took place on the 6th of April in the southern regions of the Zabul province. They were travelling to an area for the purpose of delivering some books to the school children of the area, but it seemed like the Taliban did not wanted it to happen, which is the reason for which the blast had been planned. Kerry said in this regard that every person is able to feel and experience this kind of loss. He made this statement in front of the US Embassy employees in the regions of Tokyo. He also added that this 25 year old young woman was filled with hope, optimism and struggle in terms of helping the children of the area to learn, but now she has been wiped out with the use of force and terrorism.
A spokesperson from the side of the US State Department said that the meeting of Kerry with the parents of the victim would be held privately and the media won’t be allowed to give any sort of coverage. Not to forget here that the victim had voluntarily joined the assignment as an assistant information officer. She was well aware of all the potential and other risks that were involved in this kind of job, but for the purpose of doing something for the children in Afghanistan, she took that risk. There might be a number of reasons for which the media won’t be allowed for the coverage, but in all the media needs to understand the decision taken from the side of Kerry.
